Whiplash Treatment in Lowestoft

When your neck never quite feels the same
Whiplash often happens in seconds, but the effects can linger for weeks or even months. Whether your injury followed a road traffic accident, a sporting incident or a fall, it’s common to experience stiffness, reduced movement, headaches or aching across the neck and shoulders.
Many people try to ‘wait it out’, hoping things will settle naturally. While many injuries do improve with time, persistent symptoms deserve a professional assessment.
At Total Balance Wellbeing Centre we’ll take time to understand how your injury happened, how it’s affecting your everyday life and whether we may be able to support your recovery.

Understanding whiplash
Whiplash affects the muscles, joints and soft tissues of the neck. Although pain is usually felt in the neck, surrounding muscles, the upper back and shoulders can also become involved as your body compensates.
Every injury is different, which is why a thorough assessment is important before deciding on treatment.
Looking beyond the injury
Our assessment looks at how your neck, shoulders and upper back are moving together, together with your posture and current stage of recovery. Understanding the whole picture helps us recommend the most appropriate care.

Finding the right approach
Where appropriate, your care may include gentle chiropractic treatment, osteomyology techniques, massage therapy and simple rehabilitation exercises designed to restore comfortable movement and confidence.
Every recommendation is explained clearly and tailored to your recovery.

Your first appointment
Think of your first appointment as the fact-finding stage. We’ll chat about your symptoms, how they started, what seems to help or aggravate them, and how they’re affecting your daily life. We’ll then complete a thorough assessment from head to toe so we can understand exactly what’s going on.
After we’ve had time to review everything, we’ll invite you back to go through the results together. We’ll explain what we’ve found, answer all your questions, and discuss the options available. If treatment is appropriate, we can often start on the same day.
Supporting your recovery
• Keep gently active within comfortable limits.
• Follow any exercises recommended by your practitioner.
• Avoid staying in one position for too long.
• Gradually return to normal daily activities as symptoms improve.
